Biology : Shrub or tree 1-6(-8) m tall; branchlets dark red-brown, ridged.
Ecology : Woodland; wooded grassland on hillside; open thicket along small dry ditch in Combretum savanna; 15-800 m alt.
  The long gracefully drooping racemes of white flowers make this a most elegant plant. It hybridizes with C. abbreviata.
