The Botanical Information System Flora of Paraguay (SIB - FdP) provides access to all the data published so far in the fascicles of the Flora of Paraguay, a project of the Conservatoire et Jardin botaniques de la Ville de Genève (Switzerland) in collaboration with the Missouri Botanical Garden (USA).

The database will be a complete and easy access reference dealing with the taxonomy, nomenclature and morphology of all the vascular plant families, genera and species known to be present in Paraguay. Furthermore, it provides the most relevant taxonomic bibliography for the taxa treated, as well as identification keys, botanical line drawings and distribution maps. 

The information included in the SIB - FdP has been adjusted to follow the editorial guidelines for the published fascicles of the Flora. The synonyms included in each taxon are restricted to the basionyms and all the names associated with Paraguayan types. The standardization of the authors of names follows the Authors of plant names (Brummitt & Powell, 1992) and those of the literature are based on the Botanico-Periodicum-Huntianum (Lawrence & al., 1968) for the journals and Taxonomic literature ed. 2 (Stafleu & Cowan, 1976-1988) for the books.
